THOUSANDS of pumpkins at a patch in Barrow are ready to be picked and carved for Halloween.

Pagebank Pumpkin Patch is back with some 'whoppers' this October.

The patch has opened for the past two weekends and has been 'very popular', said Helen Eastham, who is hoping for a bumper half-term week.

The patch will be fully open between Saturday 22 to Sunday 30 October.

The patch has an abundance of pumpkins to pick from, with this year offering its most varied and best crop of pumpkins to date.

Helen said there were 'well over 30,000' pumpkins this year.

"The crops are a lot bigger and have grown really well, there is even more variety and some real big whoppers," she said.

"They are bigger and better than the last three years."

As well as pumpkins, Pagebank Pumpkin Patch has a host of Halloween attractions, lots of picture opportunities and a tuck shop.

The autumnal backdrop and atmosphere along with a couple of seasonal photo boards make Pagebank Pumkin Patch the perfect place to take a family snapshot or a cute selfie.

Across 15 acres of land there are lots to explore: dare to go down the Horror tunnel, jump into the soaring sand pile and reach new heights with the pumpkin sling shot. There is also a new attraction, a haybale slide tower.

It is free entry; however, Pagebank Pumpkin Patch asks you to book an arrival time slot so they can know how many people are on-site to ensure the smooth running of the patch, and whether or not to allow walk-ins.

Due to the unpredictability of autumnal British weather, wrap up warm and wear some sturdy shoes when you visit Pagebank Pumpkin Patch this half term.

The site can be found at Page Bank Farm, Rampside, Barrow, LA13 0QR.
