A 21-YEAR-OLD accused of making false rape and trafficking allegations has been branded a ‘serial liar’ by prosecutors at the start of her trial.

Eleanor Williams is charged with seven counts of perverting the course of justice in relation to claims made to police.

Opening the case at Preston Crown Court, Jonathan Sandiford described Williams as a ‘serial liar’ who, on a number of occasions between October 2017 and May 2020, made false allegations that she had been victim of sexual offences and offences of violence and that she had been trafficked through the North of England for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

Williams, of Teasdale Road on Walney, denies all the charges.

The crown also claimed Williams manufactured fake and false evidence to support her claims and made false allegations at various times to work colleagues at the bar she worked at in Barrow; medical professionals and sometimes directly to the police.

“When the police learned of such serious allegations against a seemingly vulnerable young woman, they began to investigate and took steps to safeguard her welfare,” Mr Sandiford said.

Mr Sandiford told the court that Williams fabricated a ‘good deal’ of false and fake evidence including text messages and on social media, in which her alleged abusers, appeared to admit what they have done to her.

He said: “Williams manipulated her social contact, her social relationships, phone and media contacts… to make it appear that she was being constantly contacted by Asian males or people with Asian male names, in particular, about sex or sexual matters.”

As a result of her allegations, people were arrested and interviewed by police, the court heard.
