A ROMANTIC proposal at one of London's most extravagant restaurants led to marital bliss for one smitten couple.

Jane Langhorn, 59, who works at Burlington Aggregates, has married Norman 'Mo' Morrison, 66, an operations manager at Sellafield, at a 'brilliant' wedding ceremony in Furness.

The pair, who are both from Barrow, first met through a mutual friend who set the lovebirds up on a blind date.

"I chickened out the first time it was arranged but made it the second time and haven’t looked back since," said Jane.

The couple got engaged on June 23, 2021 during a trip to the Shard in London for Jane's birthday.

Jane said: "Unbeknown to me he had been in touch with the staff in the weeks before and arranged everything, there was rose petals on the table and the floor when we walked in which I thought was a bit over the top for my birthday but didn’t think anymore of it.

"We had cocktails, then after the starter a lady from the restaurant brought over a bouquet of flowers with a box on the top that to my disappointment turned out to be a key ring. As the night went on another staff member brought out a round plate decorated with tiny flower ice cream and the words will you marry me wrote in dark chocolate.

"Mo got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and of course I said yes to which everyone in the room applauded, it was a lovely moment and so romantic."

The smitten pair tied the knot at St Mary's Church in Dalton followed by a reception at the Abbey House Hotel with 81 guests.

Jane said: "The church ceremony was beautiful; we had a very traditional church wedding with bells, an organist and hymns.

"My two sons Stephen and Adam gave me away and my daughter Lydia was chief bridesmaid. My best friend Suzanne was maid of honour and Mo’s granddaughter was bridesmaid.

"My three granddaughters Ayda, Maya and Allie were flower girls and my grandson Max was page boy. Mo’s best men were his son Callum and his best friend Al. The ushers were Mo’s son Stephen and his grandson Fynn.

"It was a very special day full of love and laughter in spite of it raining all day. For the wedding breakfast we had chicken liver parfait followed by a roast beef dinner then sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.

"The first dance was 'Heaven Must Have Sent You' by the Elgins. The evening was attended by around 160 people. We had the brilliant Dave Roberts singing in the evening followed by John Halligan as Elvis and Pete Murphy as DJ who are all good friends of ours which made it just perfect. They were absolutely brilliant; everyone had a fantastic day and night. It all went by just too quick."

Due to being in the midst of renovating their dream home, the newlyweds enjoyed a mini-moon in Liverpool after the wedding.
