READERS have shared their praise for a good Samaritan who has has left a whopping £764k to three charities close to her heart.

Irene Cutcliffe has given £254k each from her estate to three charities, including St Mary’s Hospice.

The 79-year-old, who lived in Hawcoat Gardens in Barrow, sadly died on May 13 last year in Furness General Hospital.

Irene was a much-loved wife of the late David, cousin, auntie and friend.

Before their deaths, Irene and David – who have no children - made the decision to donate all their money and value of the house to charity.

Irene’s cousin and his wife, Fred and Pamela Myerscough, are ‘chuffed’ their relative’s estate is going to three well-deserving causes.

Mrs Myerscough, who lives in Barrow, said: “We’re really chuffed it’s going to three deserving charities – it’s a really lovely thing to do.

“We were close to Irene. She was always auntie Irene to me and the children. She was a big part of the family.”
