THE first session of a six-week training course will begin today.
'Defending the Docks' military heritage training will be run on Tuesdays from until September 20 from 2pm until 3.30pm at The Dock Museum.
The purpose of the sessions is to train participants on how to produce a professional record of local military installations, how to search for historical information online and how to contribute research to a Virtual Reality model of the wartime landscape.
Participants do not need any previous experience and will be free to attend with the equipment provided.
Transport costs for participants to travel within Barrow and Walney to attend will also be covered.
The participants will receive a certificate at the end.
It has been funded by Orsted (Walney Extension Skills Fund), BAE Systems Community Investment Fund and the Sir John Fisher Foundation
