CAMPAIGNERS say they have been left 'terrified' by convoys passing through Cumbria that they believe are transporting nuclear warheads.

Members of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament released photos of Ministry of Defence trucks travelling up the M6 to Scotland.

They fear the vehicles could become caught up in serious incidents on the motorway - although the MoD has played this down.

The route they take uses the M6 through Cumbria to and from the atomic weapons establishment in Berkshire and the Trident nuclear weapons system base at Coulport, in the west of Scotland.

Kentish man said: "We do not need nuclear missiles, and we would all be much safer without them on the M6 and the roads that connect to it. Should heaven forbid these people ever gain control then of course we wouldn't need to defend ourselves the front door key would have been handed over to Putin and co on gaining power and we would all be enslaved."

Dalton said: "Such drama and the word 'believe' is used frequently."

Orangevanman said: "Do these people do not realise that by publishing the photos and details of the routes taken they are giving potential terrorists ideas of where to cause the accidents they are so "terrified" about. I doubt the insurance companies are worried."

Barrow Lad said: "Same people who promoted 5G spreading Covid."

Twm Sion Catu said: "Of course we don't need them, after all friendly countries like Russia, China and North Korea don't have them. Scare mongering at its worst. Do these clowns really think one of these warheads would cause a nuclear explosion if involved in an accident?"

Big COL said: "Isn't the headline- Campaigners don't know how Nuclear Weapons work? If they think they can set one off by crashing a lorry into one they are in cookoo land. Ask the people of the Ukraine who are being tortured and killed every day if they are pleased, they gave up their deterrent."
