BARROW AFC match winner Josh Gordon has praised the vocal support of the home crowd after his late dramatic strike secured back-to-back league wins for Barrow AFC.

Gordon struck in the dying embers of Saturday's five-goal thriller with Bradford City after a late goal from former Bluebird Andy Cook pegged AFC back to 2-2.

Speaking to the club website, Gordon said: "It was a tough last seven minutes but we won it in the end. Obviously, they got back into the game but it shows the character of the team and the togetherness of the fans.

"It gives us a lot of confidence and shows that we can do both sides of the game. It shows that we can come back into games and also how well we can start games. "Every challenge that has been faced, we have taken it."

Gordon gave the fans a large appraisal. He said the thousands of fans in the stadium were integral to the Bluebirds emerging victorious.

He said: "The support of the fans was huge, every tackle, every attack, the fans were behind us. You could tell that the pressure on the Bradford players was really taking its toll."

And work on the training pitch - as well as manager Pete Wild's philosophy - looks like it is starting to pay off.

"We are starting to get little partnerships, I have been told to get forward more and I thought [for the match winner] I would get in the middle of the sticks, stuck a leg out and it went into the back of the net," he said.

"Life under Wild is good. I reckon we are the three smallest forwards in the league but how we are playing together, it is a pleasure to play, be in the box and use my energy."

AFC head to Blackpool in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night and have sold out their ticket allocation.

Gordon said: "Blackpool will be another test. We will just go there and see what we can do. We have been written off the last two games but every challenge we have faced so we will go with an open mind and see what happens."
