DELIGHTED Barrow boss Pete Wild hailed his team of “warriors” as they clinched a dramatic stoppage-time win to stun Bradford.

Josh Gordon was the Bluebirds’ hero as Wild’s battling charges clinched a fine 3-2 win over the Bantams at Holker Street.

“My overriding emotion is what a dressing room we’ve got,” gushed Wild. “We’re a team that never gives up, a team that is brave, a team that keeps going and a team of warriors.

“My players never say die, do they? They never know when they’re beaten.

“Again there was that drive until the end, they never know when there time’s up.

“That’s heart, that is – and I’ve said that to them in the dressing room.

“We’ve got to try and galvanise this and try and keep this.

“What we’ve got is not tactical or technical, it’s just a great mentality. What a great mentality they’ve got as a group.”

Gordon struck the decisive goal straight after former Bluebird Andy Cook seemed to have salvaged a point for the visitors.

But Wild’s team weren’t to be denied as they made it two wins out of two to maintain a thrilling start to the season.

The game exploded into life after the hour point when winger Ben Whitfield fired Barrow in front.

Jake Young crashed a quickfire equaliser in off the bar – only for the home side to go back in front when Josh Kay scrambled home five minutes from time.

But more drama followed in seven minutes of stoppage time.

Cook netted Bradford’s second equaliser but Barrow weren’t done as Whitfield set up Gordon to score from close range.

Whitfield scooped the man-of-the-match award and Wild praised: “We’ve brought him to the football club to score goals – and he’s scored two-in-two.

“We’re over the moon, but there’s many excellent performances. As a squad they all need toasting down the local boozer. I think they were phenomenal.

“The fans were class – and so was the atmosphere. That’s what I want.

“They’ll be bumps in the road and, when there’s bumps in the road, you’ve got to keep going.”

The Bluebirds are sitting pretty in fourth place in the table after successive victories to kick the season off in fine style.

Their impressive opening day win away to newly-promoted Stockport County has been backed up by a fine victory over Bradford.

And Wild has no doubts his ambitious side can cause problems in League Two, especially having showed bags of character to avoid relegation last season – and with a host of new signings to boot.

“Anybody who has done their homework, the signings we’ve made and what we’ve done across pre-season shouldn’t be surprised what we are achieving,” stressed Wild.

“The longer people disregard us the better because it allows us to keep going under the radar.

“But keep putting in performances like that and the pressure will come.

“It’s all about progressing the football club on and off the pitch.

“I was brought here in a three-year plan to make the club better and aim to do that.”
