MAGISTRATES in Barrow have rejected a man's bid to cut short a four-year driving ban.

Michael Turner asked South Cumbria to remove the ban for the second time.

But his application fell on deaf ears.

Turner, of Plunkett Terrace in Chester Le Street, was handed the ban in January 2019.

Court records said magistrates found 'no compelling reason to end the disqualification early' and 'had to take account of the original offences, and in particular your conduct since the disqualification which amounts to two serious offences, one of affray and possession of an offensive weapon and then more recently an offence of racially aggravated public order towards a security guard at the hospital'.

"The disqualification will remain in place for the full period," the court said.
