A FOOTBALL club has made an appeal after two men were assaulted after a match.

Stockport County FC played Barrow AFC yesterday (Saturday) at Edgeley Park, Stockport.

Barrow took the win with a result of 3-2.

Following the match, a man was ‘seriously assaulted’ on a street, while another was assaulted through the window of his car.

A statement from Stockport County FC said: “The Club is appealing for witnesses for two assaults following today’s fixture with Barrow. A man has been seriously assaulted on Mercian Way and another through the window of their car whilst driving out of Caroline Street onto Mercian Way.

“These incidents are appalling have no place at Stockport County or in society in general and any fans found to be involved will be subject to a lifetime ban. Please contact the Police with any information via 101 quoting incident 1300 of 30/07/2022.”
