CUMBRIA'S Jacques O'Neill revealed that he 'massively underestimated' how entering the villa would affect his mental health.

Speaking on Love Island Aftersun on Sunday night, the 23-year-old told Laura Whitmore how he had 'no more tears left to cry' after his emotional exit last week.

Speaking about this return to the UK, Jacques said: "I needed it, I needed to see the boys, my mum. It got way too much for me in there.

"I removed myself from a situation I didn't want to be in no more."

Jacques said the first thing he did when he got home was watching the final episode with his mum.

"I said to my mum 'listen I've got no more tears left'. I'd been so emotional," he said.

In the episode, Laura congratulated Jacques for speaking so openly about his feelings to Luca in the Villa, she said: "You had the nation in tears, I actually feel emotional watching that.

"I think it was a beautiful moment to see men speak like that about their feelings."

The former Castleford Tigers player said he was worried he would 'lose control' and end up 'getting physical' in the villa so made the decision to leave the show.

Jacques decided to leave the series following the arrival of new bombshell Adam, when he set his sights on his partner Paige Thorne, who Jacques was coupled up with.

He said: "I've got a lot of work to do on myself and I know that and if that's what I get out of this, being a better person, then it's good.

"The last two weeks was definitely the worst I've ever felt in my life.

"If I didn't leave when I did, I was scared I would never have got back to my normal self."

Speaking about his continued feelings for Paige during Aftersun, he said she was what he had always wanted.
