A SCHOOL is staging this year's hugely popular summer concert.
Ulverston Victoria High School Music Department will be staging this year’s Summer Concert on Sunday July 17 at The Coro, starting at 7pm.
Having had to cancel all rehearsals for all groups between March 2020 and September 2021 Richard Butler MBE (assistant headteacher and head of Performing Arts) said: “It has been a long, hard slog for all of our musicians to get back to the standard where we were in March 2020, when the first lockdown came into effect (24 hours before our scheduled concert with the Royal Marines).
"But now we are back! Not only are the Wind Band and Junior Band performing in public for the first time in 30 months, but we are also looking to resume our international tours next year, as well as welcoming the Royal Marines Band to Ulverston once again in 2023.”
Not only will the concert feature the Junior and Senior Bands, but also the Chamber Choir and the ever-popular Swing Band (both of which have already returned to public engagements in recent months.
As usual, the programme will be extremely varied, but will also culminate in a mini ‘Last Night of the Proms’ finale in tribute to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Tickets are available either on the door at a price of £6 adults and £2 students/children, with doors opening at 6.15pm.
