A PUB has said goodbye to one of its most loyal workers who has served the business for 32 years.

Helen Barnes has been working at the Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank for over three decades but is now moving on to a new pub close by.

After initially starting her work with the Mason's after leaving school, she later took up full time employment which went on to last for thirty years.

Helen said: "July 7 was my last shift and it has been some brilliant years at the Masons.

"It's been a long time and I've now got a chance to catch up with a lot of people who I hadn't had time to do so until now.

"I live in Heversham and it's been a great time at the Masons. I love the place and everyone there.

"I've enjoyed those brilliant years there. I've had so many different groups of people to work with, I've mixed with a lot of people from abroad and made lots of friends from different countries.

"I've worked with god knows how many people over the years. I wouldn't know where to start but it must have been hundreds of people over those thirty years.

"I first started working for the pub after seeing an advert in the Westmorland Gazette for shifts on the weekends and over the holidays. As I had started my GCSEs, I began working full time over the holidays.

"I went into catering college and they advised you to find a job in the industry so it took off from there.

"When I first got there it had beers from all over the world, and they had their own brewery. The menu was half vegetarian and half meat, and there were lots of different meals from all over the world.

"I am set to start work at the Brown House which is not too far away from the Masons."
