A BARROW YouTuber's video of walking through the town centre has gone viral.

Gareth Morgan, whose username is Bald Foodie Guy, usually creates food review videos trying popular food from takeaways and restaurants in the area to branded items on his channel, which has 36,600 subscribers.

But this time, he posted a video of his trip out to Heron food, a retailer supermarket based on Portland walk in Barrow, and also documented his journey into the town.

The video ‘Barrow-in-Furness Grim Shopping Trip With A Darker Side’ sees the food lover walking down Portland Walk, past the boarded up shops on his way to grab food - and has so far received more than 65,000 views.

The content creator said he was disappointed to see the town in such a state reminiscing about when he used to go shopping with friends and family members when he was younger and the town would be booming.

He said: “Look Debenhams has now closed. I’m absolutely gutted about it. There is a cracking car park on the top.

Walking across the street, he said: “And also this use to be a watch shop and it’s closed down, everything is closing down, it’s terrible.

“Everything is shutting down, this used to be market square and now there is nothing left to it - fortunately  the market hall is still open.”

On his way back to his car, Bald Foodie Guy encounters a back street full of overflowing bins and scattered rubbish down backalleys.

He said: “Look at all this rubbish problem down this back street, look at it, it’s a real shame isn’t it.”

He was however delighted with his purchase of some garlic kebab sauce and a ready made doner kebab from Heron Foods. He relived fond memories of when he used to go to a kebab shop on Dalton Road after a night out with friends.
