A GROUP of friends are set to hike up the highest mountain in England dressed as giant ‘boobies’ to raise awareness of breast cancer research.

Ceara Fisher is taking on the wacky charity challenge alongside Dawn McMullan and some friends to mark nearly five years since her mum was first diagnosed with stage one breast cancer.

This Sunday, the group will scale the 3,209ft mountain while donning their giant ‘boobies’ outfits to raise money for the charity CoppaFeel and Cancer Research.

Mrs Fisher, who works as head of admissions at St Bees School, hopes the challenge will encourage others to check themselves regularly.

The 36-year-old, who lives in Eskdale, said: “My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago but has also luckily been given the all clear.

“We sadly know far too many people who haven’t been as fortunate, including family members - and therefore, what we’d really like to do is raise awareness that just feeling your boobies (both men and women) really can make a difference.”

Dawn McMullan said recovering from cancer herself ‘really put life into perspective’.

She said: "Having recently lost two close friends to breast cancer, and I've just had my four years all clear, it really puts life into perspective. We're doing this to raise lots of money for two brilliant breast cancer charities but also to raise that vital awareness message to both women and men to please check your breasts or pecs once a month."

The pair would like to thank Woodlands Tea Room at Santon Bridge, Ravenglass Handmade Ice Cream, The Sawmill, Helen's Herbs and  Morrisons for their support in donating raffle prizes to fundraise for the walk.
