DROP-IN sessions for people with breathing difficulties are back after a break for Covid.

The Breathe Easy sessions will include health service speakers, gentle exercise like chair yoga and the chance to chat with other people with breathing difficulties over a cup of tea.

The first session will take place on Wednesday June 15.

"You don't have to be a member or turn up every time," said an organiser.

"And everyone's welcome, including carers, family and friends.

"We like to have a laugh so bring a favourite joke if you have one."

The sessions will take place from 1pm to 3pm at St Mary's Living Well Centre in Duke Street, Barrow on the third Wednesday of every month.

The sessions were formerly called Carry on Breathing, but have been renamed Breathe Easy.

"That's because they're now organised under the Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network, which should mean that medics will refer people with breathing difficulties to us," said the organiser.

The first session will feature yoga teachers Cheryl Appleby and Hilary Grieve and retired lung specialist Andy Luksza will be on hand to give general advice.

Barrow has a high rate of breathing difficulties, including the highest in the UK of mesothelioma, a cancer linked to exposure to asbestos
