THE Barrow community is invited to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at two major events planned for the town.

The nation is being urged to throw the biggest ever thank you party during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festive dour-day Bank Holiday weekend.

It is hoped millions will gather at street parties, host a Big Jubilee Lunch or get together around the county to thank the Queen for 70 years of service, but also to thank neighbours, family, friends, communities, the NHS and key workers for their support over the past year.

And the Barrow community is no exception.

Today you can celebrate with The Forum, Barrow Council, Barrow Full and many more at Barrow Town Square from 1pm - 5.30pm.

There will be free entertainment from local performers who will take you on a journey through the past seven decades including: Voce, Chris Barker, Café Society Jazz Band and many more.

And on Saturday CandoFM, Barrow BID and Barrowfull have rallied together to host a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event in Barrow’s Dalton Road on Saturday June 4.

The event, which will take place between 12pm and 8pm, will mark the Queen’s 70 years of service to the country.

Entertainment for the day will run from 12pm with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem, performed by local choirs, through to the early evening with a live stage hosting tribute acts, including Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran and many others from every decade of the Queen’s reign.

The day will be rounded off with local choirs, orchestras and brass bands performing a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ style concert.

The event will include something for all the family with plenty of art and craft stalls, street entertainers and competitions.
