Barrow AFC have confirmed their first pre-season friendly for this summer.
They will take on South Shields on Saturday, July 16.
The trip to the north east will see the Bluebirds take on a home side managed by Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips.
He took charge at South Shields earlier this year and led the Mariners to second place in the Northern Premier League.
The ambitious non-league club suffered promotion heartbreak in the play-offs when losing to Warrington Town on penalties in the semi-final.
The Bluebirds and South Shields had a further connection this year with the loan of goalkeeper Scott Moloney to their 1st Cloud Arena ground.
Barrow say they will announce more friendlies in due course.
