A TOWN council meeting is to determine who will become a mayor for the 2022/23 term.

A meeting of Ulverston Town Council at 7.00pm on Monday, May 23 will be held and a decision will be undertaken by a show of hands or by a ballot if required.

The newly elected Mayor will sign the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and will present current mayor Cllr Bob Brown with the former Mayor’s Medals of Office.

A deputy will also be elected.

There will be also be a period of public participation, where for a period of up to 15 minutes, members of the public may ask questions of and raise matter that they think should be discussed by the council in the future.

Among other items on the agenda, it will be discussing whether to give planning permission to a café, deli and ot food takeaway at 11, Brewery Road.

It is expected to re-approve existing council policies, including health and safety, equality and diversity and social media policies.

And there will be a motion to increase the annual allotment rental for a full plot to from £45.00 to £46.00 and for a half plot from £25.00 to £26.00.
