STUDENTS at Furness College enjoyed a catering masterclass this week.
The college welcomed experts from leading pub company Inn Collection Group today to speak to our catering students about careers in the hospitality industry.
Recruitment manager Catherine Bellhouse gave an overview of the range of opportunities joined by colleague Sarah McIntosh and then did quick-fire interviews to give the students an idea of the type of questions they would be asked when they apply for jobs.
The 16 students then practised their customer service skills and napkin folding, carrying glasses, silver service and table setting in the college’s purpose-built restaurant.
Catherine said it had been great to work with a group of enthusiastic young people with industry working in partnership with education.
“I think today has provided an insight into career opportunities that students may not have thought of and equally gives us access to prospective future employees.”
