Big-hitting Liam Livingstone struck a jawdropping six that left legends of the game dumbfounded in the IPL.

The Barrow star launched the ball 117 metres - the biggest six hit in this season's competition.

And after his mighty blow off Mohammed Shami's bowling helped Punjab Kings to victory over Gujarat Titans, observers lined up to praise Livingstone's exploits.

Former England star Kevin Pietersen, commentating on the game, said: "I have never seen a six as big as that one."

Punjab Kings head coach and India spin legend Anil Kumble added: "I have seen Chris Gayle do that often, but this was something different."

Livingstone, 28, joked after the game that it "was nice to get one out of the middle" as he reflected on his stunning hit.

It came in an innings of 30 not out from ten balls, including two further sixes, as Punjab chased down their target of 144 with four overs to spare.

Earlier the Barrovian had taken one wicket for 15 from 2.3 overs to help restrict the Titans to 143/8.

Former India player Aakash Chopra was also astonished by the power of Livingstone's hitting.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said: "Liam Livingstone sent one ball to the moon. A 117-metre six, who does like that?

"He hit 30 runs off 10 balls, three sixes, what a player. Liam has only one rule – hit the white ball hard and send it out of the stadium, he is that kind of a player.”
