NURSERY children are gearing up to enter year reception by improving on their literacy and numeracy skills.
At the Old Vicarage Day Nursery in Barrow, members of the Robin Class have just received the big news of where they will attend reception in September.
Parents of pre-schoolers received the news over the last couple of weeks and all the children will be getting very excited about attending 'big school'.
As part of our summer term curriculum, the children will be focusing on school readiness, including emergent literacy and numeracy.
Miss Amy Cockburn, the Old Vicarage Robin teacher, has been working with her pupils on holding their pencils and paint brushes with a 'pincer grip' and learning how to write the letters that make up their name.
The children have also been painting numbers and taking part in counting activities and telling the time.
