A BURLESQUE cabaret show is set to tease the town with award-winning performers showing off their incredible talents.

Burlesque fans across Cumbria are being treated to a double whammy of activities in Barrow this May with a workshop and cabaret show.

Those interested in learning the practical side of vaudeville are urged to book soon to take part in an empowering, introductory workshop in the art of the tease.

Those attending will be taught by the award-winning, professional performer Trixie Blue on Sunday May 8.

The workshop will be followed by the Bluesy Burlesque Cabaret, both have which have been produced by Rose Vintage Events.

The workshop takes place throughout the afternoon before a special Burlesque cabaret show takes place later that evening in the private function rooms of The Derby Inn in Barrow’s Dalton Road.

Participants of the burlesque workshop are encouraged to dress comfortably and gain confidence as they are introduced to the beauty and techniques of the art of teasing by the professional teacher, who will ensure an accessible and inclusive space to develop new skills in a supportive atmosphere.

No previous experience is required and no nudity will be involved at any part throughout the workshop or cabaret and all props will be provided.

Becki Fishwick, owner of Rose Vintage Event said: “I’m super excited to be able to bring this calibre of talent to my hometown. Trixie is just amazing at what she does, she’s always so inclusive and reassuring with how she teaches it doesn’t matter how old you are or what you weigh or feel capable of.

“I think it really helps to feel comfortable in your own skin in this age of filters and influencers, so I truly believe anyone who gets involved will get a lot of body confidence out of this - and you never know, it might spark a future career or hobby for some too!”

Whilst the cabaret show is open to all over the age of 18, the workshop is limited to those who identify as female (also over 18+) to ensure that everyone feels safe & comfortable as they learn burlesque skills.

The workshop, which includes fizz and cakes, will take place on Sunday May 8 from 2pm until 5pm at The Derby and costs £45.

The Bluesy Burlesque Cabaret will take place on the same day, with doors opening at 7.15pm for an 8pm start.

The cabaret show will feature Trixie Blue, Vintage Songstress Becki Fishwick & DJ Alex Morrison’s Soul Disco and will cost £12.

Tickets are available via Rose Vintage & Retro, 66 Crellin Street, Barrow in Furness or via WhatsApp on 07531 938987.
