Phil Brown has insisted Barrow AFC won’t make things easy for play-off chasing Swindon Town today.

The Bluebirds face another long away-day against a high-flying team four days after facing Exeter City.

Hosts Swindon are two points outside the play-off zone with two games remaining.

But Brown says his 21st-placed side must set out to make life difficult for Ben Garner’s Robins.

“We don’t want Swindon to be celebrating, or Northampton to be doing the same on our soil next weekend,” he said.

“We’ll be doing everything we possibly can. We won’t be lying down for anybody.”

Barrow are hoping to complete their away fixtures on a positive note against a Swindon side still with plenty to play for.

The Bluebirds boss maintains his own players must make the absolute most of the remaining 180 minutes of the League Two season.

“The last games on our fixture list are important for the opposition, but a importance comes into play with our performance in as much as Swindon are playing for something at the right end of the division,” Brown said.

“The majority of the players at Barrow are probably trying to play for their futures.

“I don’t mean contracts or anything like that but if the management regime that’s in place at the moment is there next year, they’ve got two games left to try and impress us.”

Brown was manager of Swindon in 2018.

He added: “I know them very well, and I know how the supporters demand a style of football. They want to see them play the right way.

“Dion Conroy and Ellis Iandolo are the only two left from my time there, but Jack Payne’s there who I had a long-standing relationship with at Southend.

“I know they’ll be a footballing team, they’ll try and pass us off the park, but we’ll have a game plan and if we stick to it like we did the other night we could upset the applecart quite easily.

“Look at Exeter’s ground, St James’ Park – what a pitch that is. But did they try and get it down and play football against us?

“No, they showed exactly how they got promotion – to get the ball forward quickly and get it into areas to hurt the opposition, and that’s what the gameplan will be.”

Brown could again be without striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway today, with the AFC boss giving the loanee as long as possible to prove his fitness after missing the Exeter game through injury.

Josh Kay will be available again after suspension.
