AN Ulverston pub has marked its fifteenth anniversary since opening in 2007.
The Stan Laurel Inn, located at The Ellers, is owned, and operated by Paul and Trudy Dewar and has enjoyed fifteen years of successful trading since the couple took over the pub on April 13, 2007.
After previously running a pub in Kendal, they took over the Ulverston establishment and turned it around into the successful public house the community has enjoyed over the years.
Paul said: “Those fifteen years have been interesting.
“It’s hard to sum up all of those years because you only think of where you’ve been over where you’re going to.
“Unfortunately, the last two years with Covid are blocking our look back at those fifteen years at the moment.
“We’ll see what this summer brings for us.
“We didn’t do anything particularly to celebrate on April 13. We did put a post on Facebook but we didn’t do much else.
“I remember on our tenth anniversary we had a big party and got a singer down for the occasion, but at the moment we didn’t feel it was appropriate so we let it slide.
“Over those fifteen years there have been customers coming in who were here before we were.
“We used to own a pub in Kendal and it was after eight years when Trudy’s dad mentioned the Stan Laurel.
“We thought why not? The place originally looked a bit tired but we thought it had potential. We gave it a lick of paint and built it up from there.
“We are so happy to be here and we always welcome anyone to come down and see us.”
