A FESTIVAL will return in full force this summer thanks to a mammoth fundraising campaign which saw the community rally together.

More than £11,000 has been raised to help ensure Another Fine Fest in Ulverston can take place this summer.

The event will run throughout the town on several outdoor stages and within multiple partner venues, festival organiser Dave Crossley has confirmed.

Concerns had been raised earlier this year that the festival may not be able to go ahead if the fundraising target of £10,000 was not hit in time.

But thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the public, more than £11,600 has been raised for the hugely popular annual event.

The weekend of June 18-19 will see Ulverston erupt into a multicoloured feast of live music, DJs, circus, street theatre, live street art, window painting, yarnbombing, stand up comedy, spoken word, interactive workshops and a new world record attempt.

The twice world-record-breaking Another Fine Fest will rock the cobbles with the seventh instalment of the free multi-arts festival where revellers celebrate until the sun goes down.

Mr Crossley thanked the generosity of hundreds of people who have donated from £1 up to £1,000.

He said: “Absolutely incredible scenes. We're now into our stretch target after smashing the initial one in fine style.

“You can still support if you missed the original deadline. This would really help to take the pressure off and future proof our festival. The more we raise the more sustainable we become.  You could really help us to ensure our future for many years to come.

“We work hard to attract funding from as many different streams as possible. This includes sponsorships, advertising and grant applications but none of this is guaranteed.

“Your crowdfunding contributions usually equal around a quarter of our total costs, help to unlock funds from grant givers who ask for match funding and enable us to pay everyone a fair wage.

“406 super generous people have donated everywhere between £1 and £1,000 apiece and we are quite simply blown away. We appreciate every single pledge big or small. We would not exist without you and for that we will be eternally grateful.

“We are now concentrating on sponsorships if any businesses would like to partner with us please give us a shout.

“We really can't wait to start announcing a multitude of fantastical things that we're now able to book with your help.”
