Barrow’s Mayor joined Walney residents in celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight at a Fairtrade Coffee Morning at Vickerstown Methodist Church.
Mayor Helen Wall enjoyed a chat with visitors and friends over a cup of Fairtrade coffee and a sweet treat from the cake stall, sampled a selection of Fairtrade fruit and chocolate, bought some goodies from a well-stocked Fairtrade stall, picked up a ‘Real Easter Egg’ made from delicious Fairtrade chocolate and tried their luck with a Fairtrade quiz.
Barrow was awarded 'Fairtrade Borough' status in December, which means that all tea and coffee served at meetings and in offices must be Fairtrade and a selection of local businesses must endeavour to source more ethically grown produce.
The final Furness Fairtrade Coffee Morning of Fairtrade Fortnight is on at 10am at Dalton Community Church on Market Street.
