ONE more death and 32 further coronavirus cases have been recorded in Barrow in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

A total of 20,756 cases had been confirmed in Barrow when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on February 9 (Wednesday), up from 20,724 on Tuesday.

The cumulative rate of infection in Barrow, which covers the whole pandemic, stands at 31,106 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average of 27,317.

There was also one more coronavirus death recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Barrow.

The dashboard shows 210 people had died in the area by February 9 (Wednesday) – up from 209 on Tuesday.

They were among 22,490 deaths recorded across the North West.

The figures also show that four in five people in Barrow have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The latest figures show 49,631 people had received both jabs by February 8 (Tuesday) – 81% of those aged 12 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

Across England, 84% of people aged 12 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
