READERS have had their say on issues involving delivery drivers in a street in Barrow town centre.

Reports have been made to the borough council of Uber Eats drivers parking on double yellow lines in Crellin Street and fighting amongst themselves.

Councillor Martin McLeavy said he had heard reports from members of the public and other councillors of fights breaking out among the food delivery staff.

These issues come on top of the well-documented problems with parking on double yellow lines along the stretch.

At a meeting of Barrow Borough Council's overview and scrutiny committee - chaired by Cllr McLeavy - on Thursday, it was agreed a working group of five borough councillors would be set up to discuss the issues.

Terry Hulme said: "Slap tickets on the lot of them. Most of the shops do it as well. if they give tickets to people on Rawlinson street for parking outside their own shop then the Crellin street shops should get the same."

James Probert said: "Location isn't suitable for the service they're trying to provide for a start." John Walker said: "Where's the traffic wardens or do they just ticket over staying on car parks?"

Steven Thomason said: "Why can’t they just use the Hollywood park Macdee’s loads of parking."

Paul Carr said: "You can hardly get round the corner by the Robin Hood."

The Observer said: "Only in Barrow, Haha, Love it."

Minnie 123 said: "Make MD s responsible for the parking, or change to another delivery company."

Bill Kendall said: "TAXI drivers have been parking both sides of Crellin Street on double yellows for decades." Concerned Resident said: "It was horrific today in Crellin street, and outside of the Robin Hood, with illegal parking, whom were all the delivery drivers." hang em up said: "Say what you like nowt will get done."

Phil Cooper said: "I don't understand why there has to be a meeting to sort the problem out. Saturday lunchtime and the place was chaotic. Surely standard enforcement procedures put in place on a fairly regular basis would stop people parking illegally, followed up with standard police vehicle checks."
