Barrow AFC have sent defender Mark Ellis out on loan.

The experienced centre-half has joined National League club Solihull Moors until the end of the season.

Ellis has been out of favour at Holker Street recently and now drops a division in a bid for first-team football.

The defender has made 22 appearances this season after joining in the summer.

He was made captain by manager Mark Cooper but has been left out of the side in recent weeks.

Ellis, 33, was not in the Bluebirds' squad on Saturday and, while Barrow take on Salford City in League Two tonight, he could make his debut for Neal Ardley's ninth-placed side against his former club Torquay in non-league's top tier.

Ellis played under Ardley at Notts County last season and, speaking on his new club's website, said: "I’m delighted to join and I’m looking forward to linking up with the team.

“The manager gave me the opportunity to go in at Notts County last season.

"When I got the phone call asking the question last week to come and get some games, it was something that excited me.”
