A LONG-SERVING firefighter is hanging up his hat after 30 years at Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.

Ulverston Blue Light Hub bid farewell to dedicated firefighter Lee Thompson who started his career in the fire service in 1992.

Mr Thompson worked in the Shap, Kendal, Barrow and Ulverston areas over his three decades of service.

A spokesman for Ulverston Blue Light Hub said: "This week the Ulverston Blue Light Hub said goodbye to one of the best as firefighter Thompson retired after a long dedicated career with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service

"Lee started his career In 1992 working at Shap/Kendal/Barrow and Ulverston.

"Lee will be missed greatly at the BLH by fire, ambulance and police.

"Mainly due to the fact that he is a very experienced firefighter and great cook. Thank you and all the best Lee."
