A BED and breakfast owner from Cartmel is appealing for her outside furniture to be returned after it was stolen from outside the property.

Owner of Bed and breakfast Cartmel Square, Grange, Rachel Holcroft is appealing for her newly bought outside chairs to be returned after they were stolen from the premises.

On Sunday, January 16 around 5pm Rachel’s friend drove past the B&B on her way to feed her horses and noticed a couple in their 50’s/60’s putting the brand-new furniture into their car.

Rachel hopes that because the furniture was stacked to one side as the place is currently closed due to renovating, that the couple had taken the furniture by accident thinking it was to be thrown away.

Upset about the situation Rachel said: “I really hope these people find it in their hearts to drop the furniture back off.

“It was all brand new furniture costing about £450. I had new cushions made for it all so it would look really nice out front to try and entice people in.

“I’m a little bit upset as it’s happened in Cartmel, things like this just don’t happen within our community.

“My friend didn’t stop to question the couple as we are so used to there being no crime like this, there’s always people about so you don’t expect people to be so brazen about it.

“But she unfortunately didn’t catch a car registration and the CCTV footage doesn’t reach as fair.

“I am appealing to them if they’ve taken it by accident to drop it back off and no further action will be taken.”

Rachel bought the B&B back in July 2020 and is currently renovating it so it compromises of a café and beautiful en suite rooms.

She said: “As a new business owner it’s not what you need, it’s been a rough 18 months and we are trying to get ourselves out there.

“We wanted to re-band and make the place stand out and look really smart so people know that we are here as the place had been ignored for quite some time.

“I’m a Cartmel girl though and though and I’m trying to keep stuff in the village for my girls to have.”
