IT was a day to remember for one besotted couple who rearranged their wedding four times before walking down the aisle.

Jody Dodds, 29, a dental nurse and Adam Blamire, 31, an IT consultant from Kendal said 'I do' at the Merewood Country House Hotel on December 9 in front of 72 guests.

The pair, who are both from Kendal, had originally booked their wedding date for May 23 2020 which was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four rearranged dates later, the newlyweds finally exchanged vows in front of their loved ones in a Christmas wedding like no other.

Mrs Blamire said: "The day was amazing from start to finish. Myself, my mum, and two bridesmaids (Becca and Sarah) started our day at 7.30am getting our makeup started by the lovely Aimee Gregson.

"Adam stayed at home with his best man (Jamie) and his brother and groomsmen, my dad, my brother and groomsmen and Adam's dad, Martin, all went to our house to get ready and arrived at the Merewood around 11am.

"The guys brought our flower girls and page boy, our daughter Layla, and our godchildren, Sam, Edie and Ava.

"My dad's reaction when he walked into the room when we were ready was priceless. The day was amazing - just to have all our family and friends together after a rough few years for everyone.

"We had a magician come and entertain the guests after the ceremony.

" The Merewood were brilliant and couldn’t be any more helpful.

"It was just the most amazing day after all the waiting and rearranging. Totally worth the wait! I never thought I would enjoy a Christmas wedding but I wouldn’t have done it any differently, it was perfect."

The couple became engaged on July 22 2017 after nine years together.

Mrs Blamire said: "We met at school, although we didn’t form a relationship until Adam had left sixth form.

"Adam was very supportive and always backed my choices when at school.

"He would do anything for me and still will. He is an amazing man and makes me proud everyday. Adam liked my personality and happy go lucky attitude on life."

Mr Blamire popped the question during a walk in Kendal which his wife described as a 'massive surprise'.

"Adam wanted to take me up to Kendal castle where we had our first date to propose," she said.

"We had our little girl Layla with us. It was a really rainy day and he knew I would oppose to going on a walk up the castle in the rain so had to try and make a story up to get me there.

"He told me he had arranged a photographer to come and take some family photos of us all. I asked if we could maybe just do it in Fletcher Park at the bottom of the castle, which is where he then got down on one knee holding our little girl. It was a massive surprise!"

The couple enjoyed a spa break at the Low Wood Bay Hotel for their honeymoon.
