READERS have shown their scepticism over the future of Barrow's Marina Village despite it taking a further step towards delivery after a funding boost from Government.

Funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities to regenerate brownfield sites in England has been awarded to Barrow Borough Council.

A total of £1.519 million has been awarded to Barrow Borough Council so that the allocated site can be developed, and made suitable for the development which is set to bring 315 quality new homes to the town.

Darren Gill said: "A marina wow not sure what total cost of that would be,but I guessing be in millions,so why not spend millions on the town centre and get shops upgraded and get more shops interested in coming to Barrow."

Anne Lowther said: "One step forward, that's as far as it will go. Spend the money for the population of Barrow. House prices that no one can afford, so those that can take the money out of town as there isn't much left of a town." Anne Woods said: "I think Barrow requires funding, definitely. Has anyone from the council been to see Fleetwood Marina of late? It's in a sorry state. If you can afford marina fee's, that's great, but it's free to Moor in the channel, and at Piel etc. Please, please invest in Barrow-In Furness, in a sensible fashion, that will help the people on the ground to flourish. Barrovians are worth your consideration."
