TWO Furness men, including singer Denis Horan, will be making a TV appearance tonight.

Denis and his friend, Kyle Brown, will appear on TV screens tonight as they play pool in the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup.

The cup is a field of 128 of the worlds top eight ball pool players and although the pair are outsiders, they are feeling confident that they can do well.

The event carries a total prize fund of £32,800 and spans 21 weeks.

Each night’s action will see a round robin group of four pairs. At the end of each night, the pair finishing top of the group will advance to the last 16 of the competition.

This same process is then used for the last 16 pairs, leaving the four remaining pairs to contest the final.

Cue aces Denis and Kyle, who play for The Red River Club in Barrow, have their eyes on the cool £12,000 prize for the duo who comes first.

There is a very strong field of competition which includes the likes of the worlds number one snooker player Mark Selby, who is teaming up with the former world pool champion Gareth Potts.

Also in the competition are the former world champions Mick Hill and Phil Harrison.

The event, which is taking place at Players Pool Lounge in Stoke, is teh brainchild of the former England captain Lee Kendall.

Mr Kendall has revitalised eight ball pool with a new, exciting set of rules and TV coverage.

Feeling confident about the event and knowing what needs to be done to achieve victory, Denis said: "We are just going down to enjoy it, we both know on our day we can and often do beat the very best players but we have to be a bit more consistent, that is the only difference."

You can catch Denis Horan and Kyle Brown as they play live on TV by switching to Freesports Channel 442 tonight at 6.30pm.

The program is scheduled to last until 9.30pm.
