RELATIVELY good behaviour of fans has been applauded after six arrests were made in the weekend's derby.

Throughout Saturday officers made six arrests in relation to 'football related disorder' connected to the Carlisle Utd versus Barrow match in Carlisle.

Chief Superintendent Matt Kennerley said: “I’d like to thank the majority of supporters who were well behaved and attend the match free of violence and disorder.

“Unfortunately, there has been a minority of supporters from both ends intent on causing disorder.

“This has been the first Cumbrian derby in a long time and we want fans to enjoy themselves however any football related disorder will not be tolerated."

Gary Tomlinson said: "Six arrests from 1600 in a derby, hardly a bad thing is it! And that’s if all 6 were from barrow!"

The police did not disclose from which side the arrests were made.

Shaz Thompson said: "I saw no bad behaviour good day in my eyes well done Barrow."

"Not a CUFC or Barrow fan by the sounds of it, but he was picking one Barrow fan out and left two minutes early to go and wait for him!."

EddBanzai said: "The police were more aggressive than the Carlisle and Barrow fans, it's like they were there just to agitate and subsequently arrest people.

"The police thought I was a Barrow fan and started shoving me towards the train station. I was like 'dude, I just want to go home.'"

brigadeh said: "Didn't see the game due to other commitments, but was this a Barrow & Carlisle (Cumbria) 'love in', in order to not wreck each others chances of actually staying in the EFL?

"Glad that there were only 6 muppets daft enough to get arrested over a football match."

However, not everyone only saw the good side.

Karen Berry said: "Shame some Barrow fans weren't searched prior to entry.

"Throwing fireworks around in a packed stand just isn't on!"
