A COASTGUARD team was called out following reports of debris which had washed up on the beach.
Furness Coastguard team was paged yesterday after reports were received that debris was washing up on the beach at Walney Island.
After further investigation the team established that the debris was not a result of an emergency and no lives were in danger.
A spokesman said: "We worked alongside a clear-up team to bring all the debris to safe location above high tide until it can be fully recovered.
"If you find anything washed up on the shoreline that you’re uncertain about, call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
