IT'S about time drug laws were looked at, readers have said, in the wake of a long prison sentence for two men.

A court heard Xhoni Hasa and Mirgen Rabeta had been looking after an operation capable of producing more than 24kgs of the drug.

Hasa, 20, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison and Rabeta, 31, to three years.

Preston Crown Court heard both men had been present when police entered a Church Street property on February 28 of this year.

"They found six rooms devoted to the cultivation of cannabis and evidence of its cultivation elsewhere in the property also," said Recorder John Jones.

However, cannabis laws should be looked at and reconsidered, say some readers.

Duncan Mills said: "About time they legalised it and put these drug dealers out of business."

Publicists said: "Personally, I think cannabis should be legalised. As for this incident, money would be better spent catching those at the very top of the supply chain. They obviously prey on and coerce vulnerable immigrants into doing this and take the risk of being caught whilst they get away scot-free and no doubt prey on some others.

"If it were legal there would be no need to grow it covertly in such buildings."

However, not everyone agreed with the sentiment. Some were sympathetic to people living close to the smell of the drug.

Sayhowifeel said: "Never able to have the windows open and my kids can't have windows open, otherwise there is a stench in their room which is not fair on them. The ignorance of these people who want it legalised."
