VITAL conservation work in picturesque surroundings will be performed as part of an event being held by a charity.
Activities will include planting native cottongrass plants and creating stone dams.
The event is taking place just below the summit of Wetherlam, one of the Coniston Fells.
After meeting at Tilberthwaite car park, the group will walk up past Tilberthwaite Gill to the point at which the National Trust farm meets the open fell just below the top of Wetherlam.
"Working alongside a group of National Trust volunteers, we will be doing some additional works on our latest restoration site, where contractors have been blocking drains with stone dams and fencing off some eroded areas," said a spokesman for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, which is organising the event.
"Our peatland conservation days are a great chance for keen fell walkers to have a day out, see some conservation projects first hand, plus spend a few hours doing your bit to help us with our work."
The event is taking place between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Friday, November 19.
Booking is essential. Visit the 'what's on' section on the Cumbria Wildlife Trust website for more.
