A WOMAN who failed to pay for a train ticket has been hit with a hefty fine.
At Preston Magistrates' Court, Tracy Ann Denness was told to pay £406.80 after she failed to buy a £2.80 ticket to travel between Roose and Dalton.
The passenger, of Derry Street in Barrow, committed the offence on May 10.
According to court papers, she was issued a penalty fare notice and no payment was made.
She was fined £220, told to pay £2.80 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £150.
