A GROUP of Conservative councillors have presented a cheque to the Blood Bikers following a fundraiser.
Councillors Les Hall, Wendy McClure, Hazel Edwards, Martin McLeavy and Daniel Edwards all met up with blood biker Steve Postlethwaite to present him with the cheque
Cllr Edwards said: "Whether it is in the early hours of the morning, or the end of the night, if a hospital urgently requires blood, Blood Bikers are there to help.
"They are volunteers and they reduce the costs of hospitals paying taxi services to do the same job.
"They also carry platelets, samples, donor breast milk, patient notes, theatre equipment between hospitals if these things are required urgently."
