THIS week I, Bald Foodie Guy, checked out a Dalton takeaway.

My good lady and I ordered food from the Lucky Star, which is a Chinese takeaway based at 9 Market Street.

The Lucky Star used to be called the Castle, which was also a Chinese takeaway years ago and it was cracking, but I had yet to visit since it became the Lucky Star.

We had ordered the food online via the app on the Lucky Star website and it took 40 mins to go and collect it.

What we ordered was salt and pepper ribs, mixed meat curry, Szechuan beef and a portion of fried rice - we got all of this for just £19.90.

You can get the food delivered as well for £2.

You don't get rice with the meals, you have to pay extra for that, but the meals are quite cheap.

When I opened up the food it smelt good which is always a good start, and the containers were full to the brim.

The first dish I tried was the Szechuan beef.

The beef was really quite nice, and the flavours were not overpowering at all.

The meat was tender, quite slippy as well, as in it wasn't chewy - and that is always a good thing.

The Szechuan sauce in the dish is pretty mild, it's not too punchy.

The sauce isn't hot, it's not peppery... It's very mild for a Szechuan dish, it's probably one of the mildest Szechuan beefs I have ever had.

Next up to the taste test was the mixed meat curry.

The curry sauce itself was quite sweet, it was a lovely flavour.

After a moment you start to get a bit of background heat on the back of the palette.

I quite liked that.

I tried one of the king prawns which was really well cooked, it wasn't rubbery at all.

The curry was beautiful, but again it was a very mild flavour.

The chicken in the dish was also lovely. It was tender and just fell apart beautifully.

The most impressive of all was the salt and pepper ribs.

All of the ribs were huge and you got six of them in the container.

They tasted lovely and there was a fair bit of meat on them.

They were really tender, the meat just fell off the bone and they were all well seasoned, they were lovely.

The fried rice was also nice and well seasoned.

Check out the Lucky Star if you want to try some tasty Chinese Takeaway.
