Lake District highlighted in latest episode of hit Netflix series Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father

Coming up from the hills of Wales the well-known comic says: "If you like lakes you came to the right place."

With the pandemic limiting overseas travel, filming for 'Travels with My Father' was focused closer to home.

The show follows the pair as they visit locations across the world and they soak up the local atmosphere - often resulting awkward and funny interactions.

They start their trip at Armathwaite Hall near Bassenthwaite Lake where they enjoyed a cream tea and a swift a game of croquet.

But determined to get the "proper Lakes experience" Jack took his father to meet Winnie for some cold water swimming at the lake.

Confident as ever, Jack strips down to Speedos before quickly changing into a wetsuit after feeling the cold.

"That is so cold," he said in the water as he was being ridiculed by his father from the comfort of a boat.

"Michael, not content to lambast me from the shore, has hired a boat. Where is an iceberg when you need one?

"I know it looks sunny but that water is as cold as the blood that runs through daddy's veins."

Coming out, he shouted "I feel alive" and explained it was an amazing experience.

After that they took a stroll with llamas on Catbells before heading to Stables Stays in Cartmel to stay overnight in a barn, sleeping in the same barn as a horse, something Jack described as "the ultimate equine experience".

Once the 'horseplay' was over, they settled down for a sleep as Jack lulled his father to sleep with some witty horse puns which brought a 'foal' reaction from Michael.

This was the last leg on their trip around the Lake District before heading to Scotland in a bid to find the Loch Ness monster.
