ROOSE Pioneers return to their roots at Redwaters for their home fixture with Wigan Bulldogs 2-30pm.

Pioneers moved up the road to Holbeck Park for a two-year stint while Redwaters was redeveloped and are looking to get back into action following a few weeks break.

The evergreen Glen Phillips returns to boost the squad hit by injuries to Kris Holmes, Micky Light, Dan White, Jack Torkington and Ryan Newby.

Coach Jordan Herdman said “It’s nice to be back at Redwaters and though we have several out, it's good to give opportunities to youngsters Taylor Roberts Ben Hampson, Ethan Hadwin and others.

Plus having Glen Phillips back in the squad will lift the younger lads.”

In the Conference- Cumbria section Barrow Island will be put to the test when they travel up the Coast to take on leaders Wath Brow.

In a stop start season the Brow have won three from three while the Island have three wins from five.

Island welcome back former GB international Ben Garner following a two-year absence while Brandon Corrie and Jake Stockdale return.

However key forwards Joe Spenceley and Josh Banham are ruled out.

Coach Shaun Corrie said “It will be a good test for our lads the Brow are a top side.

But I am confident that our defence will cope with the Brows attacking play.”

In the Barrow league tonight Askam are home to Barrow Island in the semi-final of the Harry Warman cup while Millom can't raise a team for their tie with Walney.

Barrows home game with London Skolars takes place at Craven Park tomorrow kick off 2pm and not Sunday as reported elsewhere.
