MILLOM'S deputy mayor has called on United Utilities to improve its services in the town.
The town has recently been hit by heavy rain, resulting in dirty water and raw sewage entering residents' home.
Cllr Bob Kelly has called this unacceptable and now contacted United Utilities.
He said: "United Utilities were onto the issue quite quickly but the problem seems to remain that whenever there is a downpour Millom residents suffer and this is not acceptable.
"As Deputy Mayor I have asked UU to guarantee as far as humanly possible that Millom residents will not suffer yet again from an inadequate pumping or water supply system. I know that some people have suffered dreadfully from flooding problems and this is simply not acceptable."
Cllr Kelly is now awaiting a response from the water services company.
