BARROW AFC boss Mark Cooper will assess the fitness of Matt Platt ahead of Scunthorpe United's visit to Holker Steer on Tuesday.

The Bluebirds host The Iron this evening as the sides kick off their Carabao Cup campaign, with AFC's central defender Platt now a doubt for the first round tie after being forced off at half time on the opening day at Stevenage with the recurrence of a back problem.

Summer signing Offrande Zanzala is closing in on a return to action following a hamstring problem but the Bluebirds boss must decide whether Tuesday’s game will come too soon for the striker.

Tom Beadling (knee) and Mike Jones (Achilles) are both definitely sidelined, while James Jones is still working on a return to action following injury.

Scunthorpe boss Neil Cox will have worries over keeper Tom Billson who was forced off at half time on Saturday, while striker Tyrone O’Neill was also withdrawn in the first half.

All tickets for the Carabao Cup game against Scunthorpe United must be purchased in advance as there will be no availability for home or away supporters directly on the turnstiles.

Fans of both clubs are strongly advised to buy their tickets in advance online – this is a simple and straightforward process, and you can either print your e-ticket or simply show it on your smartphone at the turnstile.

Tickets will be available on the day (card payment only) to both Barrow and Scunthorpe fans. You can buy from Main Reception from 2pm and then from the Ticket Booth in the Fan Zone from 6pm.
