AS the summer weather continues you might want to take the opportunity to visit some of these gardens in the Lake District.
1. Holker Hall & Gardens
Known for its Labyrinth and Great Lime, Holker Hall is a tourist hot spot that has never failed to draw hundreds of people to its beautiful grounds every year.
With 200 acres of gardens and woodlands, with a deer park & tours this is one to visit while the weather permits.
2. Rydal Mount
Rydal Mount, in the heart of the English Lake District, lies between Ambleside and Grasmere and commands glorious views of Windermere and Rydal Water.
It was the home of William Wordsworth from 1813 to 1850
3. Dove Cottage
Another location popular with lovers of the Lakeland Poet. Dove Cottage is a house on the edge of Grasmere in the Lake District of England. Another home for Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy from December 1799 to May 1808, the grounds are beautiful and must not be overlooked.
4. Brockhole
Brockhole on Windermere is a very popular tourist destination that offers a wide range of outdoor attraction with a range of activities, from mini-golf & zip-lines to kayaking & archery.
5. Brantwood
The home of another Lakeland legend, John Ruskin. The poet had such an affection for the Lakes that in 1871, when he was 52, he bought Brantwood.
The house overlooks Coniston Water and its grounds are administered by a charitable trust. It is also home to a museum dedicated to Ruskin.
6. Mirehouse
A tranquil manor home that includes a park and wide of the local area and its greenery, Mirehouse's Gardens is decorated with numerous species of flowers and is ideal for walkers and architect lovers.
7. Levens
The hall and its gardens are well suited for people in the lakes, especially those who appreciate the care of local deer.
Levens Hall is known for its deer community and its gardens are perfect for a day out in the sun with the family.
8. Hutton-in-the-Forest
The forest is a Grade I listed country house near the village of Skelton in the historic county of Cumberland, which now forms part of the modern county of Cumbria, England.
Once belonging to the Fletcher-Vane family, latterly the Barons Inglewood, it is an ideal location to send a summers day.
9. The Victorian Aviary Garden
Located at the Yewbarrow House, this garden situated at Grange-over-Sands has been highly rated by the general public.
Gathering five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, the grounds offer an incredibly sheltered garden overlooking Morcambe Bay, that was developed back in 1999.
10. Ornamental Gardens
Another garden located in Grange-over-Sands, which is also situated close to the coast is the perfect place to visit while the summer brings us the hot weather.
Parks and gardens also include the Park Road Gardens.
