THE South Lakeland District Council is welcoming the public to contribute to the future of the area.

With plans being made which will carry the district forward to the year 2040, the council is opening a consultation for members of the public to have their say on the future.

Opinions and concerns can be voiced online on the council website in hopes of shaping the future of the county that will greater service the community.

The District Council wrote on social media: “We are seeking your views on the key themes in planning for South Lakeland’s future - the things our children and grandchildren will want to see between now and 2040.

The key aspects of future planning with consist of where new homes are to be built, as well as other developments.

This will also include how developments can happen in a way which benefits Cumbria's environment and the communities;

They will also ask the public what kind of infrastructure will be needed to support the development and how it will be delivered.

These will be including transport, health, education, parks and green spaces.

Other forms of information disruption will include Virtual Consultation Rooms and slide shows online.
