On Thursday July 15 an Admission of Church Wardens service at St James' Church for the Barrow Deanery took place.

This annual service is where each of the Anglican churches in Barrow formally take on there role of Church Warden.

A 'Church warden' is a member of the church who takes on a leadership role and are involved in the practical and administrative running of a church.

Revd Robin Ham, co-leader of the Barrow Mission Community and pastor at St Paul's Church, said: "Despite such a strange and difficult eighteen months, our churches have played an active role in serving our communities and holding out a message of hope. Our Church Wardens have played a huge part in that. Their work goes on behind the scenes - I know I speak for many when I say we're so thankful for them."
