BUILDING: Work began on 260 new South Lakes homes last year.
BUILDING work on new homes in South Lakeland accelerated at the start of the year, official figures show.
Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government data shows work began on 260 homes in the area in 2020-21 – 90 more than the 170 started the previous year.
Work was also completed on 180 homes over the year – although that was 20 fewer than the 200 in 2019-20.
Across England, 49,470 homes were completed in the first quarter of the year – the highest number for any quarter in more than 20 years.
